Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 14, 2026
Summary in plain language
We use a small number of cookies. Strictly necessary cookies keep you signed in. Analytics and advertising cookies are optional — you choose in the cookie banner or in the link at the bottom of every page.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They let the site remember your preferences, keep you signed in, measure traffic, and (in some cases) show relevant advertising. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, and pixel tags — for simplicity this policy uses "cookies" to refer to all of them.
2. Categories we use
2.1 Strictly necessary
These are required for the Service to work. You cannot disable them.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|
sb-* | Supabase authentication session | 7 days |
genechecklist_cookie_consent_v1 | Remembers your cookie consent choices (localStorage) | 12 months |
genechecklist_anon_pdf_used | Tracks guest PDF download count (localStorage) | Until cleared |
2.2 Analytics (optional)
Used to measure aggregate traffic, popular checklists, and feature usage. Anonymous; we do not identify individuals.
| Provider | Purpose | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel Analytics / Google Analytics | Page views, traffic sources, performance | Up to 24 months |
2.3 Advertising (optional)
On the Free plan, template pages may display Google AdSense ads. AdSense may set cookies to limit ad frequency, prevent fraud, and (if you consent) personalise ads.
Pro subscribers never see ads and no advertising cookies are set on their pages.
| Provider | Purpose | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdSense (incl. DoubleClick) | Ad serving, frequency capping, fraud detection, optional personalisation | Up to 13 months |
Google's ad cookie practices are documented at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. EU/UK users can manage personalised ads via Google's Funding Choices consent flow which we display alongside our banner.
3. Your choices
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using the consent banner that appears on your first visit, or by clicking Cookie settings in our footer to re-open the chooser.
3.1 EU / UK
We default to denying all non-essential cookies until you opt in. You can accept all, reject all, or customise by category. Your decision is stored for 12 months; we'll re-ask after that or if you clear your storage.
3.2 California
California residents have a right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. Click Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information in our footer at any time. This will disable advertising cookies for you.
3.3 Other regions
We assume reasonable consent to analytics and ads but make the chooser available so you can opt out at any time.
3.4 Browser-level controls
You can also block or delete cookies directly in your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and saving.
4. Do Not Track
Our site does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals at this time because no standard for them has been agreed industry-wide. We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where supported, treating it as an opt-out of "sale" or "sharing" under CCPA/CPRA.
5. Updates
We'll re-prompt for consent if we materially change the cookies we use. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
